On September 26, Sun Yonghong, secretary of Jiaozhou Municipal Committee of the CPC, led the heads of relevant departments to investigate into the special economic zone of Kratie Province in Cambodia, learnt more about development and planning of development of projects in the zone and met with He Ximei, the vice governor of Kratie Province in Cambodia to discuss development and bilateral cooperation in the zone, accompanied by Zhang Qirong, Chairman of the Board of the group, Zhang Zengchang, Vice Chairman and Vice President, Zhang Luze, Vice President and Overseas Manager, Vice President and Jia Dongbiao, Director of Management Committee of the zone.
Secretary Sun Yonghong reviewed the construction of projects in the zone, listened to the report on development and planning of the zone from Zhang Qirong, chairman of the board, and fully affirmed all the development. Chairman Zhang said that thanks to the concern and support of the government departments at all levels in Cambodia, the construction of the zone has grown, and he expressed his sincere appreciation to the leaders from Kratie province and Jiaozhou city for their long-term care and guidance for Zhongqi Holding Group and Kratie zone. Since its first entry into Cambodia in 2012, Zhongqi Holding Group has been stepping up its strategic "One Belt and One Road" strategy by continuously increasing investment and cooperation in Cambodia, such as the special economic zone of Kratie province, Hailong Bay Beach Resort of Ream, Preah Sihanouk as well as licensed land in Mondulkiri province, the Group has become the largest Chinese-funded enterprise of Shandong province in Cambodia. He said that the Group would actively cope with the output of international cooperation in capacity-building and continue to invest in Cambodia with the support of both the Chinese and Cambodian governments so as to speed up construction in the zone, and build it into the important platform of "Belt and Road " win-win strategic cooperation and international capacity-cooperation.
At the symposium, Secretary Sun Yonghong introduced to He Ximei the economic and social development of Jiaozhou City and the Eurasian Economic and Trade Cooperation Industrial Park. He said that the Eurasian Economic and Trade Cooperation Industrial Park is an important project under the overall layout of the Eurasian Economic and Trade Cooperation Industrial Park among China, Russia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, and was approved by the Ministry of Commerce in March 2016. It is an important section in the eastern of national "Belt and Road " strategy as well as the first economic and trade cooperation industrial park in Chinese coastal areas that is facing Eurasia. The special economic zone of Kratie province, which is invested by Zhongqi Group, reflected the strong support in finance, law and human resource by Chinese government to "Going Global" enterprises. It is also the determination from Chinese government in the strategic development of the "Belt and Road". The zone has been given top priority by the leaders of China and Cambodia. The upcoming "19th NPC" of China would also indicate the way forward for further developing China-Cambodia economic and trade relations, China-Cambodia friendship and the "Belt and Road", and better share the fruits of international diversification. At the same time, he expressed his hope that Jiaozhou City and Kratie Province would seek truth and being pragmatic, work in unity and help each other and innovate and develop together so as to jointly promote all the projects to a new level and seek more benefits for peoples from the two countries.
He Ximei expressed his warm welcome to Sun Yonghong for his visit to Cambodia. He pointed out that China has always been a good friend of Cambodia and the traditional friendship between Cambodia and China goes back to ancient times. The special economic zone in Kratie province provides valuable employment opportunities for local people and contributes to social and economic development of Cambodia. The Kratie government will, as always, support the development of the zone. He Ximei also introduced the situation and advantages of Kratie province. He pointed out that the Kratie government received instructions from the royal government in 2014 to develop the special economic zone of Kratie into a national industrial park, and they are making unremitting efforts to support all enterprises to be more standardized and competitive in the region. He hoped to work together with Chinese government to help each other and work together to overcome difficulties so as to thrive the business in the special economic zones in Kratie province.
With the Chinese traditional mid-autumn festival approaching, Secretary Sun Yonghong used the metaphor of “A bosom friend afar brings a distant land near” to describe the intimate relations between China and Cambodia, and once again, he thanked the Kratie government for its concern and support on the projects of Zhongqi Holding Group in the special economic zone in Kratie province.
Subsequently, the leaders of both China and Cambodia together watched the propaganda film about basic situation and development planning of the special economic zone in Kratie province, exchanged gifts and took photos.
